Hi,
I've purchased the Halfords EHU and now I need some advice on lighting to go with it.
I've only ever stayed on racing campsites and have now booked to go to Cherry Tree Farm for 7 nights.
My experience with camping has not always been positive, I've been out in gale force winds and hale stone showers that cover the ground in June. So I'm trying to be prepared to take the OH and two children away without too many disagreements.
I will have the charges for our phones and a low voltage kettle. Is there anything else that other members could suggest I would need the EHU for and if so what they would be.

I use work lamps for lighting the tent inside and out.

The one inside is not IP rated, however, the one outside in the porch/canopy is rated IP44.

As for a kettle, normal domestic one no more than 2kW output would be fine, as long as one does not use another piece of electrical appliance with a heating element such as a fan heater or cooker with it.

Low voltage kettle is fine, however, it takes forever to boil, hence I prefer not to use it.

Since you have EHU, you may consider getting a fan heater just in case the nights are cold.

We use 2d task light what are ip rated ... Also they are really robust and bright, it is only 38w what really good aswell we have thought about going with led route but just don't think they are as good but the my opinion :)

Surely a low voltage kettle will be damaged if run on 230V

or do you mean low wattage?

Definitely a fan heater. Perfect for taking the chill out of the air in the evenings. Might not be top of the list in the current warm spell but sure as eggs it soon will be!

Get a fan heater with the ability to turn off the heating element and just use the fan. Great in the current weather!

As for the low wattage kettles. They do take ages to boil. Especially if you fill right up and you plan on making Tea for everyone.

Why not look at taking a George foreman type griddle? Why pay for gas when you've paid for ehu? There's several other electric cooking options to consider too.

Then of course there's the possibility of a main powered fridge or cooler? I have my own mini cooler to keep by beers cold.

I did look last light at the LED option but got totally baffled by the LED tape thread. :-(
I have got a travel kettle and we should be going away next weekend but using a generator as we are at a bike race meeting.
The fan heater does sound great, we have a gas one at the moment but it scares me to death with the children around and fumes.

My bad, I meant low wattage as in 1kW or below, not voltage!

We use Rope lights - come in various colours, are light and easy to pack, robust (you can stand on them) IP44 waterproof and cheap.

Do these come ready to plug in and go as spec talks about needing to know what the person is doing ???

As is it a bright light or warm light and how do you attach to the tent.
