As I mentioned before you either love or hate Go Outdoors. Primarily as the business model is a little bit different.
Firstly you have the so called membership which is no different to Matalan but you have to pay £5 for a one year subscription. Secondly prices in store are usually higher than elsewhere (always remember this!). However where they do start to excel is promotions, which can be good but probably a loss leader to get you in store to buy the more expensive items. Finally we have the price match which guaratees to beat a competitor by 10%. On various items costing say £500 this could be a £50 saving. You can't buy it cheaper if the item is stocked and sold by Go Outdoors (unless it's on an Auction site). If you can get it cheaper, request a price match and get another 10% off!
I sympathies that for some reason stock is not always available in Scotland and makes price matching and membership worthless.

GO are great, you just have to know how to work their system and it isn't that difficult.
Bull----
One occasion a leaflet came through the door, nice pair of walking boot's for oh available a few days later. Off I went on the expected day to our local Go only to be told we wont be stocking them at this shop. When I got home I phoned another Go to see if they had them and they said they don't have them, why put item's in their leaflet's that is not available to buy. I think it's just a cunning way to get you in the shop and if you were desperate for them you would probably choose another more expensive pair.
It's true that not all stores stock all deals....but that's what online stock checkers are for. You can always order for home delivery if you're quick too. Like all amazing deals they sell out fast though.
I've just been and picked up my half price sandals. Sure I had to reserve them in a different store but they held them for longer than they were obligated to for me so I could go when it was convenient to me. No complaints from me.

brickiemum...like you I would be prepared to go to another store and have done but preferably in Scotland.
With the England only deals the nearest store that generally has stock would mean a round trip of 200+ miles. I have enquired several times at English stores if they would post it to me but as the deals are generally not up for delivery they are not allowed to do it.
I have also went to buy advertised deals that included Scottish stores and been there for the store opening (Edinburgh/Glasgow) only to be told they are not included in the deal the staff even agreed its a con sometimes..and they get p****d off having to explain to customers its not their fault..
I buy a lot of outdoor/camping and now caravan gear every year as we all do and have benefited from a few deals at GO but do get angry when Scotland is excluded from a lot of excellent deals on several occasions.
I am glad you got your sandals and they held on to them for you but if you buy a lot of gear there will come a time when like me you will be "annoyed" that Scotland is not included and you cannot order for delivery.

I would add the special deals that I refer to are generally for top end Hiking Jackets, rucksacks and tents etc and mostly England only and not for delivery..

I was just trying to take my comedic skills up a notch... inferring that I was in the bottom maths class!!
Evidently, it failed! Sign of a bad comic!
