Sorry if this is common / answered before...
I am pretty rubbish with the electrics... hoping that this combo will be fine in europe

Is the only battery option to use a huge expensive leisure battery? (its really only for beer so no biggy)
Just wondered if there was a smaller option?

It only goes 16 below ambient so not great above 20 degrees, better to get a good 5 day cool box and add ice as needed, much cheaper and not a lot can go wrong with one.

I've been using a normal box for ages, just with the long car journeys thought it might be an additional option. I think a few sites included power too so would be nice to take advantage. (Maybe I dreamt the last bit...)

Just another thought - anyone ever built a basket for the ice pack? Seeing as the top would be the warmest part and its hard to balance the pack on the salad...

very few sites EHU is included but they do exist, if you have a Halfords nearby may be worth checking if they have one of these available.

I always pack my coolbox with everything below the ice, except the salad which sits on top. I always use plain bags of ice not freezer packs

I put bubble wrap on top of the main food and blocks/ice and then the salad on top so it keeps cool but not in direct contact with the ice.

(The problem starts when the site freezer doesn't do what it says on the tin )

They rarely do people open them up all the time and dump loads of unfrozen blocks in.

We gave up doing this years ago and just switched over to ice

If you like the idea of an electric cool box take a look at the easy camp coolbox, it runs of mains and 12 volt so no need for the transformer and it cools to 20c below the ambient temp.
