We have recently bought the Cadac Eazi Chef and it has no instructions.
When is the deflector used?
I take it there are no coals used when you are using the barbecue function?
Where can I find a decent recipe book for Cadacs?

The instructions that came with mine were as much use as a chocolate teapot but if you look at the diagram on thisthe arrows show what goes where, when.

The (think it's new zealand) cadac website has recipe pages, not that i've looked at them as mine's mainly a bbq.

If it helps, the 'deflector' is called the 'BBQ deflector' by Cadac hence there's an implication that it is only used in conjunction with the 'BBQ grid'. Thus, it would not be used for the reversible grill plate, pan stand, etc.

The reason for the deflector is not only spread the heat but also, more importantly, to stop fat dripping directly on to the burner as aside from flare ups you'd likely soon end up blocking the burner holes not to mention causing a right old mess to clean up.

Further to the above, I grabbed a copy of the 'Cadac Surface Care Quick Guide' a while back which doesn't seem to get much visibility. It might well be widely available and I've somehow missed it but it case it's of use you can downloaded it from me here. It illustrates simply what order everything is placed in.
