We have recently bought a double camp bed with 2 double outwell 5 cm sims but the sims seam to be very firm to the point of being uncomfortable do the soften with use or are some models softer than others?
Lay on top of them whilst releasing the valve slightly until you get the softness required. It's what I do anyway and seems to get the result your after. The hardness is usually dependent on the amount of air inside your sim.
Agree with Gareth the more air inside them the more ridged they become. As suggested you could lay on them, undo the valves and expel some air until you get the firmness you prefer...
Yep, open valves and leave them to inflate. We have 10cm ones and leave them for a few hours, especially if they have been rolled for a while. It does no harm to leave the valves open until you are ready to use them. Once it is time for bed, lie down and release some air until you find a comfortable level. It helps if you have the valves at your head end so you can lie and do it rather than sit up to do it.
Were the SIM's valves closed when it was cooler and the air inside expanded in the heat during the day perhaps?
