all the 240/12v "coolboxes" only cool to about 20 degrees below ambient temp sooooooo
at the 30 degrees we have been getting for last few weeks they will only cool to 10c
which isnt cold enough to keep food
its ok for beer i suppose but
things like cooked meats for sandwiches etc will not be safe after 24 hours at 10c people are looking at food poisoning

a coolbox is not a fridge
im a chef by trade and i cant believe how many people use a coolbox as a fridge, coolboxes are meant to keep things chilled while travelling (hence the 12v cable) to and from the beach etc not to be used as a fridge for a weeks camping
if your going to buy milk each day etc it may work but i know many many campers keep sausages etc in a coolbox all week raw meat at 10c your asking for trouble

What did man do before electricity and health and safety....? How on earth did we cope....?

Francais,

When I go camping, I like to take all the food required for the trip with me, so that I do not have to go looking for food once I have arrived on the camp site.

Therefore, I need a cool box/fridge that can operate at 12V while it is in the car to keep the chilled/frozen food chilled en route.

Since I have my interior car temperature set at 17 deg C, the B40 will be able to keep the contents chilled and even frozen when it is running on 12V.

If and when I go to France camping, I would raid a French supermarket near Calais or Boulogne before travelling to camp site, as I know my way around these areas. Hence I would need to use the B40 on 12V to keep the food chilled while I continue with the journey to the camp site, which could be a few hours away.

As I have made the decision not to go camping when it is too hot, and for me anything above 20 deg C is hot, I don't need a compressor fridge/freezer that operates as a fridge/freezer when on 12V.

However, if money is no object, I would definitely get the new CoolFreeze CFX 40!

DK

Hi DK.
Sounds like the B40 was the best solution for you, but not for me so it is just as we'll that Mobicool produce the two types.

The OP only mentioned using a portable fridge on EHU, and did not ask about 12v no doubt as they already have a cooler.

I wonder what the OP ended up with.
