Hi
Just bought a new voyager 6 as recommended on this site. Now I realise I could have bought a footprint.
Is this necessary? I can nip to the shop tomorrow morning early if needs be but would be grateful for your views.
Thanks
A footprint isn't essential, but it will protect your groundsheet from sharp things (stones etc) in the grass. It will also keep the groundsheet clean which, on a tent with a SIG, is very handy indeed because it stops the can a from getting muddy when you fold the tent.
I use a tarp from B&Q rather than a "proper" footprint, which seems to do the job admirably!
If I were you, I would be looking at something, be it a tarp or footprint, to sit under the tent.
I guess their view is that a footprint is an optional extra, as the tent will function fine without it, and I'm sure loads of people don't use one and have no problems.
It really isn't essential, but I think it's nice to have.
Can I ask why you thought the porch was a waste of money and useless? Admittedly we struggled the first time we used our porch getting it connected properly but now we love the extra space it gives us for storage and for cooking in inclement weather.
