Hi good people

I am doing a bit of research into how to camp with my kids - 2 yr old and 5 mth old. We used to camp pre kids and favoured wilder sites that allowed fires etc. We are now looking at what's possible/easy with a toddler and a baby and i am wondering whether to go down the route of ehu. With that in mind I got excited about cooking with a multi cooker as although its still a dangerous heat source I somehow feel more comfortable than using a naked flame to cook with. However, I need to know what I am looking for - I have seen some people say that they can blow the fuse as they use a lot of power - is there a specific camping cooker that uses a lower input?
I am totally open to suggestions about cooking options with littluns, am not dead set on ehu, but need to get my act together as the experimental first camping trip is in 10 days!

Thanks

Prestige multicooker here. Love it! So easy and no issues with ehu as very low wattage. So versatile, cooked all sorts in it :)

It's neat and compact but cooks for six perfectly. You can see the size of it in this pic. Please bear in mind that is a small travel kettle for comparison though lol!

They're Magic Mats. Real dirt stoppers with rubber backing so stay nice and dry. Not got a really good picture of one but this show more of one!

Also use Kampa interlocking mats, they're superb too

Hope that helps :)

Thanks whippet lover - I will have a look at that one, I am glad to hear from someone who has used a multicooker as I really do think its the way forward for us. (And yes, it would be cauldron sized if that kettle was the same size as mine!)
Am slightly concerned about getting carried away with kit if we get ehu - is there a 'normal' set of kit that people get? Was thinking lamp, kettle...can't think of anything else!

We take a toaster too - largely used for the kids as they like the cheese toasties in the toastie bags. We also have the fridge plugged in. Don't do the lamp though as the lantern we have is as bright as the living room light at home

Is that the Andrew James one Arsenaldes?

I went for the Prestige as you can completely immerse it in the sink, so makes it so easy to wash. Also got quite a few coatings of Teflon so very hard wearing non stick, and it was deeper than most so really good for 'saucy' things lol! Use it home and away.

Like you say, they can cope with anything! Full breakfast, stir fry, stew, boiling pasta, drain and add sauce, curry, chops, chicken kebabs, roasting chicken and potatoes (especially yummy lol) steaks are so tender in there.

My home oven and slow cooker are not used anywhere near as much as they used to be! The mini oven for camping is only used for bread and cakes now! Don't know what I did before I had it...

Its a Habitat brand but exactly the same as all the other cheapo ones also in B&M etc. Had it 3 years now but only use it for camping. You cant fully immerse this one for cleaning but the non stick is still ok. If we were using it at home as well then would go for a better one.
