We had one of the magnet strips when we bought our first camper'...'twas absolutely useless!...

We've got a Gaslow "gauge" on our bottles now...and that's not much better to be honest(although it is good for "leak testing" the system).

It only seems to read the last 1/3rd or so(reading full 'til then), after which it just plummets!

If your bottle is "loose"(not fastened in a MH/caravan), then weighting it really the easiest and most accurate way of checking it.

(..We found that after a few seasons use, we could pretty much judge when we'd need to be looking at exchanging the bottle).

 Although if you are feeling really flash, how about one of these Truma, "ultrasonic" gadgets:

From your link,I'm not entirely sure what you've bought...

We did buy the "Handle-wheel" Gaslow gauge, like this:

..BUT we use a 13kg bottle and they have a "shroud" around the top fitting, this made it difficult to get your hand(s) in, so I was never overly confident that it was tight enough...

..even though it seemed okay when I checked it with gas leak detector, it was still possible to rotate/move the whole fitting just by "wiggling" the gauge (..if that makes any sense).

So I took it back and swapped it for the normal "spanner" type....

As I posted earlier, just be aware that they don't read "linear", as we've found that it's only the last  1/3rd of the bottle that registers any movement....

(..it reassuring to have it as a "leak check" though..)

...Oh yeah!..I've just thought...pretty much ALL of the Calor bottles have got a shroud around the top, haven't they..

(..it's just for some reason, it seems smaller dia' on the 13kg bottle).

Ok here is the thing.  I use the 3.9kb propane for my cooking needs.  I know how to work out weight of bottles etc to show remaining gas but it can be tricky to know how much is actually left this way.  I have looked at the magnetic strips that go on to the bottle to help me - does anybody know if these are any use or not.
