I need your help to make my tent less messy! I bought a cheap collapsible wardrobe from home bargains which erm, collapsed under the weight of our clothes! My next idea is a simple clothes rail with one of those hanging fabric shelve thingies. I believe Mucker has posted a picture of something similar? Alternatively, one of those lovely camping wardrobes with shelves and a hanging rail would be great but car space is at a premium (we are already packed to the rafters with a full roof box), rummaging through a bag on the floor is gettin on my nerves! Also we need something to store random junk like books, torches, kids toys, cooking equipment etc... in the main living area of the tent. I'd love a small cupboard but again it needs to pack up very small! We have a coolbox for perishables (beer perishes very easily if you don't drink it fast), a box with a lid that turns into a seat for nonperishable food, so I could get a couple more of those. Ideas and suggestions welcome, with pictures too if you have any. Thanks.

First of all I would look at culling the amount of stuff you're bringing. The other thing is that longer holidays and weekends need different solutions so if you could let us know what type of holiday it is it would be great.

This lastest camping trip I used two underbed storage plastic boxes with lids, as on other occasions I've taken deeper boxes and spent my time poking through them. One is for kitchen stuff and the other for everything else (meds, torches, paperbacks etc.)

I use a holdall for clothes per person, with each person responsible for their own.

Thanks both.

Claydon, our tent has something similar built in which is useful for things like the kids magazines and felt tips. The top pockets keep medicines and sharp knives out of reach. I need something for more bulky items.

Campernic, a mix of week long holidays and 2 or 3 night short trips. I must point out that we have only camped 3 times, so I'm still new to this. I take the same clothes each time and just plan a wash mid week for longer trips. 4 tops, 4 bottoms per person, underwear for 4 days, a fleece each and swimwear if there's a pool or beach. A few other bits like my running gear. I don't do 'beauty', certainly not when campng, no make, fake tan or any or that palaver, so bare minimum toiletries. I think the issue is more about containment than the amount!

We have one of the camping wardrobes and although it does fold down flattish, it's still bulky and heavy and if we didn't have the folding camper to traipse it round in, we wouldn't have it.

We use the collapsible crates that you can get from Tesco for about £3 each, they fold down quite flat are are very light, ideal for keeping all the kids stuff together and not strewn across the entire tent floor!

I love these (ebags packing cubes)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005LXPSHG

Come in various colours, easy to squash between things. Week in France I took small, medium, large. Underwear, tops, shorts respectively, each for myself and my daughter. Also packed one full of suntan cream, and a separate one on parcel shelf for the overnight ferry (we literally parked the car grabbed bag and were straight upstairs)

Outwell Antigua- its fantastic. Packs up very small and instantly turns into a small living room type cupboard with 3 shelves and pockets on either side. One of the best things I've bought- instant tent tidy!!! :-)
