Hi have just got the tent out to go away this weekend but the main door zip is covered in lime scale and I can't get it open, any ideas welcome,I have tried vinegar ,washing up liquid,wd40 and oil with no results
Lets hope you didn't get any of those substances on the tent material. Especially wd40.
Never heard of limescale on a tent zip before, hopefully someone who has will be along.
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
Its not limescale - if it is a metal zip then it is corrosion.
Do you have a chandlers near you? They will have some corrosion inhibitor which is also gives silicone coating to the zip.
It occurs if you have been camping near the sea. The salty air gets in there and although the zip may be dry it leaves salt behind and causes problems.
Hope you manage to sort it out.
Have you tried candle wax? Just rub the candle along the teeth and hopefully it isn't too bad and that will free it.
