Hi please help.
Due to a growing family the camping equipment is now growing too, but unfortunately family and tent won't fit in car any more, so it's time to get trailer, not sure which or what i need, I have Vango Maritsa 700. Any advice would be much appreciated.
               Cheers Matt.

Welcome to UKCS!

When it comes to trailer, the general consensus is to get the biggest one can afford and store away with ease, with room for the camping kit to "grow".

Good luck!

If your budget will stretch, have a look at the Anssems GT range, probably the best camping trailers around, very practical with there hard tops, so that you can carry extra stuff like bikes etc.

We went for a 5' x 3' 7" Trailer with ABS lid and roof rack and soon added a 520lt roof box to it. Photo in gallery.

For us it's the ideal size, and leaves the car pretty much empty, although there are just the 2 of us.

Everyone's needs are different and we only go camping the once each year for our 3 weeks vacation to the South of France in July. So we do take a lot of kit.

Why not buy a trailer tent, then you know it's the right size

This is our Erde 122 with custom made galvanised box lid. We started off with a Renault Scenic and 540 litre roofbox, but this wasn't enough for a family of four with two small kids (and all the stuff they entail!).

Ended up with a Mondeo estate with trailer and roofbox, and still manage to fill it all up! Our tent is a biggun' (Outwell Wolflake 7 & awning) and this goes in the boot along with our clothes. Everything else goes in the trailer or the roofbox. The thinking behind this is that if the worst was to happen and the trailer detatches itself or someone else wipes it out, the most important (and expensive!) things are safer in the car.

get all your kit and pack it in an imaginery trailer (mark out trial sizes on the ground), once you have found the smallest area you can fit all your gear into go for a trailer a couple of sizes bigger to allow for the inevitble new kit you will get in future.

Pic of mine, a Brenderup 1150s with extension sides that doubles the original trailer capacity, with ABS lid, jockey wheel and spare wheel. It is more colourful now with some decals as I needed to hide a large crack on the ABS lid.

The lid was damaged when I tried to close it with the windbreak in the way, DOH!!!

It is taller than the car, however, it is not as wide, and tows like a dream with 13in wheels.

It carries all my camping gear, including spare table and chairs, and still have a bit of room left.

It frees up space in the car, and loading and unloading is a dream, compared with the hassle that was the roof box.

It fits into my garage nicely without having to clear it out too much. Had I opted for the larger 1250s, I would have to had a major clear out in order to fit it in.

Very pleased with it, and I considered it as money very well-spent.

In a conundrum, whether to opt for the 1150 with extensions or 1205. We don't have a garage so, we'd have to store it against one of our out houses. With the smaller, I could remove the lid and sides and keep them inside. Or, the other I am considering is the Lider. It does seem to do the same job (although not as good looking), and it can have bars to store the bikes on top. I'm hoping a decent priced second hand one pops up on eBay once the hols are over and someone decides camping isn't for them.
