Having managed for years with a standard double air bed (was Aerobed, now Intek) we'd really like to upgrade to a king-size like we've got at home. However, virtually all the beds on the market seem to be single or standard double.

Anyone got any recommendations for something really comfy? Cost isn't that important (within reason)

We use the Intex Queensize, which is 5 foot wide. Ours is a double height 3 in 1, which is 2 beds which zip together to make the double height so don't know if it would be too high for your tent pods but is very comfortable. We use ours in an awning annexe during the summer and have had it for 3 seasons now.

We use two ThermaRest DreamTime XL's that fasten together with there embedded straps to make a double, not sure if it is KingSize but is definitely bigger than our Double bed at home.

Got the DT's back in 2008 and they have been, superb for our fortnight campings in the South of France during July.

How well do you find they work on bumpy ground? I like the idea of a pair of SIMs but worry they won't even out the lumps as well as an inflatable. I've got a cheap Eurohike single SIM and, to be honest, it's a bit rubbish on anything other than pristine pitches. I'm guessing the DTs are much better?

Hi tentage.
The pitch's we have been on have been baked dry and stony, not that makes any difference to our DT's.

Having said that we put down a Tarp and on top of that goes a 1mm thick Butyl rubber sheet, so our ZiG is well protected, then the bedroom pod has it's own SiG and in the bedroom pod we have a fully fitted tent carpet.

So our DT's are on top of 5 layers, so we don't experience any bumpiness as you put it.

The NeoAir Dream XL has now replaced the Dreamtime XL. The bad news is, you'll need x 2. The good news is, you'll be supremely comfortable.

We upgraded to a 5ft double height airbed, thanks to a forum recommendation got it in asda's sale £30. Best nights sleep ever, even had room for our 4yr old granddaughter when she decided to join us in the middle of the night.
