My wife and I are looking for two comfortable reclining chairs, suitable for either sitting at the table outside, or reclining back to take full advantage of the sun (when its out!) We do have two big ones at home with large foam cushions that have several back/footrest positions, but they are too big to take in the van. We are looking for something similar but obviously not as bulky. The essentials are; must be padded and comfortable with some sort of headrest. Must fold up for transport in the van or boot of the car. Price is not important, I'm happy to pay if I find the right chair. We don't like chairs that have a canvas type material that is totally unpadded, and chairs that are so short my feet hang off the end or my head rests on the top of the frame which is usually hard metal! Any recommendations of manufacturers or websites would be very welcome. Ideally I would like to try the chairs before buying, as many we have seen look great until you lay on them, then they are very uncomfortable. Thanks guys.
Does not fit all your criteria, sorry, but there is only one recliner. IMHO the Rolls Royce of recliners
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Hi as a cheap alternative, we use two small fold away stools to put our feet on( £3.50 each from Go Outdoors) combined with a our chairs and find this very relaxing and convenient solution. Our chairs are a Kentucky something from Go and a Kampa something, both are just normal chairs although the Kentucky has a slightly inclined back.
I can certainly recommend the Lafuma padded recliners, pricey, but so comfy with a little pad which you can position behind your head, or in the arch of your back - bliss
Yep, we have the "Lafuma Champs Elips Padded" in dark green, very comfortable chair, and if we need to put our feet up, we just use one of the 45lt Really Usefull packing box's that we have.
The Lafuma chairs are very light weight and for there size pack quite flatt.
We have been using them for the last 5 years for our fortnight campings in the South of France and they are still like new, back in 2008 they cost around £30 each, but have now shot up in price.

Lafuma all the way we have rsx padded full recliner, trust me we have lots of camping, outdoor, garden chairs and these are the best I've ever had. Only chair my hubby has ever been able to nod off in. Pricey but last, get the little side trays for an even more lazy comfy experience!
Thanks to everybody that replied with their recommendations for a reclining chair. It looks like Lafuma won most votes, but what we actually ended up buying were two Camp-let Premium chairs with the optional footrests from the Camperlands sale, which is advertised on this site. Reading the details they looked to be a well made and versatile chair, and when they arrived they were actually better than I expected! Beautifully built, very strong construction. Well padded, with a nice high backrest and head cushion just like the Lafuma. The backrest adjusts to eight different reclining positions, and the optional footrests simply clip on to give a big lounger suitable for sunbathing. Best of all they were very comfortable with no bits sticking in me, which is what I have found with many other chairs I have tried. Camperlands are offering a discount if you buy two chairs and two footrests together, so that is the deal we went for. The details are on this link; http://www.camperlands.co.uk/camplet-premium-camping-chair.html
