Topic: Television interference caused by mobiles

Has anyone else experienced an interference on their caravan television caused by their mobile phone's?
We seem to get this a lot and wonder if it is a common problem.
Is there an easy solution or is it time to replace the caravan aerial?
Help please.

I get it through the speakers on the PC and the radio in the car. But usually only when its quite close to them.

I have not seen this happen on a TV before, but it's quite common on speakers etc when they use unshielded cables.

It may be worth checking all the TV aerial cabling to make sure the shielding is properly connected and all the connections are in good condition.

A common way to fix interference is to fit snap on ferrite cores around the cables. It's probably worth giving a couple of ferrite cores a try as they should only cost a couple of pounds. I would fit one around the power cable and one around the aerial cable.

What's the TV you have? I used to experience this when using a 'budget' Tesco own brand TV in the van (if the phone was within 5' of the TV), but having migrated to a better quality product, I've not suffered any interference since.
Regretably, the issue is due in part to poor internal shielding in the TV itself, so I'd be suprised if external ferrite protection were to help.

Looking at the poor build and component quality of most aerial installations in caravans nothing would surprise me. They use the cheapest components and charge a fortune for the product.
