We have recently added a tread lite carpet (we got it from outdoormegastore) that we have down in the awning. Trouble is, its very very very slippery. I actually slipped the other day on it, its like an ice-rink in the awning now    What is up with that??? Surely that can't be right? Checked to make sure we hadn't got it the wrong way round, but it still feels the same! Any ideas what we can do, else we will most likely have to pull the thing up as its too dangerous. Such a shame as it does look good in there. Any help on this would be most appreciated as always! Did ask this on the other website but no answer lol.

ooo that doesn't sound good! Does it need washing off before use, sometimes there is a protective film over things that needs to be removed. I would contact outdoor megastore and ask, if not, it's not fit for purpose I would say, and might need to be returned for a refund.

According to Outdoor Revolution, the manufacturer of Tread Lite carpets, they are non-slip.

Just a little query...are you slipping on it? ( you say it is slippery) or is it slipping underneath you? Difference........is it above a SIG or footprint and the carpet is slipping (with you ontop of it) on the SIG/Footprint, below it?

Hi

We used the same treadlite carpet in our open fronted tent extension on bare grass during our last very wet camping trip. It wasn't at all slippery during all that rain...

I'd be interested to know (as Austins asked) whether you had a groundsheet under it (something I was considering to help keep the treadlite clean - might not if it creates a slip hazard).

Hi there, we have this carpet placed on top of those rubber matty things you buy, which jigsaw together....again mean't for awnings, as our caravan and awning are on a gravel plot, the rubber mats make it more comfortable but due to the holes in them, the weeds/grass come through, so hence why we added a carpet on top of them. We have rang the store and they too can't understand why the matting is slippery and just to confirm its not the matting that's slipping its me slipping on it. We have just turned the carpet over to see if it makes any difference, only did it weekend just gone so can't say anymore until we've given it a good try out. Thanks all for your replies.

Interesting that you say weeds we're growing through the rubber mats which were sat on gravel. Lift rubber mats and check to see if you have a slime mould growing through the gravel and spreading up through the mats. This could be making the carpet slippery

We have the same problem, rubber ground sheet down first, then carpet ont top, ive come to the conclusion that certain shoes i wear slip on the mat, say rubber flip flops or trainers no problem, nut some smooth bottomed toe post shoes very slippy, nearly gone over a few times myself, just make sure i put these shoes on now when im exiting the awning and take off when entering, but yeah i agree its not very good for this to happen but looks nice when its down, i didnt even think about taking it back :( just presumed it was my shoes ????
