Hi all
I am looking for a caravan cover for my Swift Oronsay. I have read numerous posts regarding covers but still wondering what to buy. Please can you advise why the Protech covers are more expensive than say, maypole, tow sure, or even Caravan Cover shop and ultimately are they any better?

I am so confused, breathable....waterproof roof...water resistant...
I just want one that fits and keeps my van clean.

Please help!

Ta much

The caravan cover shop seems to have some bargains! I would go for one of theirs.

It's the branding, cost of advertising and manufacturers name that usually means the difference in price.

If it's breathable, that's got to be the best option.

'It's the branding, cost of advertising and manufacturers name that usually means the difference in price.'

I think anyone who has bought a cheap cover and found that it wasn't up to the job will disagree with that misleading statement.

We had a Purpleline Wilderness Trail cover - a well known brand.  It cost £140 for one to fit our twin axle.  It was made from ripstop nylon type material.  It didn't last long - the winds pulled it apart at the seams.  Purpleline were very good and honoured the 5 year warranty, sending me a brand new one.

I just sold it on and bought a protec cover which is a totally different class of cover.  The material is much thicker, breathable and soft on the inside. Specialised are also well recommended.

As for the others - they are the ones that give rise to negative comments about covers.  Some people describe them as glorified bin liners. Best avoided.

The cover shop looks a bit suss to me.

I hate websites that are registered to private individual and not a proper business name and address.

Please contact us for the returns address?

The material in the photo's seem to hig the caravans so it makes me think the material is super thin and wont last.

I had a towsure cover and thats totally junk.

Great feedback....thanks.
Looks like I should dig a little deeper and go protec or specialised. At over 250 for my size of caravan I hope it would be worth it.

Update -
Ok so I eventually went for the Maypole 4 ply from Leisure Outlet. At £96 delivered for the 19-21' option its minimal risk.
Put it on yesterday and TBH I am suitably impressed. Very soft good straps and elasticated bottom.

Lets hope it fends off the winter dirt :-)

Thanks for all the pointers.

I've had my Maypole cover for 3 years and had no problems with it. Easy to put on by myself and does the job well.

Purchased a Fiamma covertop (£80.00) for our Autocruise Startrail Motorhome, (not wanting to spend £600.00 on a Protec). Big Mistake, although well anchored and tied, it started coming apart during the first gale. Also noticed condensation forming on surfaces inside the vehicle. Go reassuringly expensive every time, don't bother with cheap covers. False economy !
