Hi all ,
Just received our new caravan sat nav of Santa and was plotting various locations in Britain which it found but as I'm going to France later in the year with caravan I tried to find my French locations - but couldn't which worried me to say the least , but could it be that it'll find French post codes when we get off the ferry in France ???
Any feedback hugely appreciated

                    Craig .

Is your satnav loaded with europe maps?
Have you tested it with a city centre in France?

Unfortunately French post codes will only get you to within a mile or two of your destination. You can download all known campsite locations to your Satnav from a website ( someone will hopefully come up with the link).
I prefer to locate the campsite on Google Earth and then put the coordinates in the Satnav and save as a favourite.
Regards Bob.

Thanks to your responses , I'm loaded with the maps but didn't realise you had to select the foreign countries that you wanted to find a location in , I've sincefound my locations in France and saved them . Thanks for both your prompt replys .

You should also be able to enter by address but if you put a French city in it should find it regardless of being in UK.

You may not have European maps loaded.

If you are looking for campsites its best to download some POI's (points of interest) from this websiteArchies It saves all the messing about with addresses and post codes.

I always use the "Itinary planning" section of my Tom tom.

This way, and with the aid of a map, I dictate the route I want Tomtom to take to my destination, I don't allow the SatNav to decide which way to go.

Learned that lesson years ago!

We travel to France every year, as an aid to my sat-vav I look up a route using the Michelin route site.(viamichelin.fr)
It gives times for the journey with a caravan, choice of routes, a complete list (printable)of the route, toll charges. Better than google any day

Hi Dawath

How do you find the route option for using a caravan, when I use ViaMichelin I only get up options for car, bicycle, motorbike or walking.

Sixth box down on mine says trailer, not caravan, so maybe that's why I wasn't aware of it.

Thanks
