We are heading to Cornwall (Mother Iveys Bay) in the Summer and am looking to take a TV plus Freeview box and wondered what people use as an aerial. There are a bunch of small aerials on EBay which could be mounted on a mast but wondered what people's experience has been.
I have asked the campsite what the reception is like.

I camped at Mother Ivey's in 1964 and 65!
Of course Freeview wasn't an option then!

For freeview you need a directional aerial and if you can a 12 volt aerial amp is an advantage status amps have an LED signal locator inbuilt in the amp which is a god send.Since change over to digital I have found reception in areas were I could not get reception with the old analogue transmission have improved tremendously but you do need to align the aerial more precisely

I have one of those small aerials on the mast and have a USB freeview receiver which I use on my laptop. Used it for the first time last summer and it all worked without any issues. I guess results will differ depending on signal strength. The aerial was £11 delivered from ebay, the mast was £14 and the USB receiver was a tenner from Amazon.

Much easier to set up than the satellite system I was using before.

I have a small ariel with a magnetic base I stuck it on the roof of our car
,I bought it off eBay , worked brilliant in the new forest ..
Used it with our portable DVD player with free view ..

I use a boosted 12 / 24 volt, this seems expensive but it was the fourth one I bought ranging in price from £5 upwards, each time a little more expensive.Sure I paid less than £45 though.
I live in a bad reception area and I thought if it works here it will work anywhere and it has, this also works on the move with a little adjustment. Various different attachment options as well. This even works on my plasma (no I don't take that camping)
