I've just got myself a trailer to cart around the huge amount of camping gear we take with us when we go camping and was wondering if there is insurance available for for it as it only has a tarp top and could get "broken into" or stolen or I could crash it or some other mishap could occur.
Does anyone know?
thank
Ian

This is my Morpheus 8, there are many like it, but this one is mine.
I must master it as I must master life.
Without me, my Morpheus 8 is useless.

Trailer insurance is available but only for loss/damage/theft of actual trailer. I have never found any to cover contents/load as well. Have you tried an extention of your home policy for the contents?

Shield offer a specific tent insurance - may be worth checking if it covers transit

Yep, we had shield for our Trailer and Tent c/w kit, when new, but you have to bear in mind that in the event of total loss, they will only pay out to current day value.

So unless all your Trailer and Tent with kit is all brand spanking new, and you have paid around half current shop price, you really have to consider is it worth insuring.

To an insurer I would imagine £5k worth of Trailer and Tent with kit! would probably be valued at around £2k max, once it gets to more than 12 months old they would probably say it's worth less than a Bag of Sand!

Like any insurance it is nice to have if you can afford it, but check the small print, so that there are no unpleasant surprises should the worst happen.

I think your home insurance policy could be the answer ...I've claimed for bike damage and a camera lost in a canoeing roll!
