I think they are all rubbish. The barber I use has 4 of them on during the winter and her place is never warm, it's only the size of a standard living room.
If you go for a Halogen heater then " they heat the body not the room, so while you might get warm if you are directly in front of it the room will stay cold" is correct...
If you go for a Quartz heater its a whole different story, they heat the room and things like furniture and your own body.
Someone with more knowledge than me will tell us its conduction or convection or something like that but either way Quartz heater are superb, Halogen are rubbish, and pretty much all the Quartz heaters I have stocked have given off the same heat but the Quest one seems to have a better plastic etc but for how often you use them camping I wouldn't worry to much what brand you go for as long as its a Quartz.

When i had a caravan with damp i bought 3 from different places. I only needed the 400w setting to dry areas out.All 3 were slightly different made by different manufacturers but all in China. They all worked fine and now i use one in the awning and for the last two years in October kept it warm. They can be bought off E-bay now for as little as £6 delivered.
We've got one as well. Has a switch under it which switches it off automatically if it gets knocked over. I like it because it is very small and light so is easy to store. It is very cosy to sit by, and even on 400W gives off a fair amount of heat.
It does give off light as well though and some may not like that at night but we find it makes the inside even more cosy and both of us do like a little light at night.
Quartz give of a radiant heat I think its called and halogen give of a convection heat... I may have the names wrong but they look the same but are very different. As has been said halogen light only heat physical things and not the air around them but quartz heaters heat physical things as well as the air.
