I'm after some advice to a newbie, when we purchased the caravan the leisure battery was fully charged, after running the lights and fridge to check if they were all working, I then connected van up to the house and placed the battery in to charge mode on the control panel. When trying the 12 volt electrics again a couple of days later the leisure battery was dead. I'm running through the electrics one item at a time and was wondering what voltage should I be getting at the terminals when in charge mode.
If it's like a car battery being charged.. something like 14v at terminals I Think . it might be that the battery is toast. you. an charge it to your hearts content but it'll never hold a charge
As mentioned, check with voltmeter that caravan charger is actually charging. If it does charge up battery then disconnect battery, leave for a couple of days & if battery is then dead, battery has had it.
If battery is ok but drains if left connected to 'van then you need to find the cause, but your first check is to see if battery is any good because you don't want to be chucking a good battery away.
