Wondering if anybody has any solution to removing mould from flyscreens and curtains? What about a bleach solution?

I don't want to put the curtains in the washing machine as they are quite flimsy but before I tackle them by hand, I'd like to know what all the experienced caravan cleaners out there use

One part Milton to ten parts water should kill off the mould without damaging the fabric.

I would be dubious of using any other type of bleach.

Yes Milton is the right way. The wife washes down our flyscreens with this solution. She has also washed our caravan curtains on a wool wash in the washing machine--so she says, they came out great, if you are worried about them being delicate--the wife advises putting them into an old pillowcase and tie it down with an elastic band (scrunch up the open end with the band and fasten). Good Luck. Gary

White vinegar also kills mould spores. The above advice is all good. I chose to change the colour of some of my blinds and put acrylic paint into a wall paper trough quickly dipped them then hung them on the line to dry.

In addition to the blind/curtain cleaning I would also wipe down all surrounding surfaces with white vinegar to get rid of as many remaining spores as possible.

White vinegar is a natural antibacterial. I have used in in solution (I think it was about 1:4 with water) to wash my kitchen floor.

I was not mad at the time but pregnant and had read somewhere about cleaners causing problems to babies so I gave it a try for a few months.

Okay so this is what worked:

Wool wash in washing machine made no difference so I sponged the mildewed areas with a Milton:water solution 1:10, let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing and they have come up really well.

I sponged the flyscreens with the same strength solution, putting it on quite wet and letting it dry on them. A couple needed several applications. But again it worked really well.

Seeing as we're on the subject of cleaning, I've used vinegar to clean the shower but the best one of all is a lime cut in half, rubbed on & then rinsed off.

Thanks again folks for your helpful comments.
