Topic: Campbed or air bed for side sleeper?

Hi everyone

After years of using airbeds, my husband has been pondering whether to get us a double campbed. I was quite happy to do so, and we were thinking about the Outwell Posadas double with SIMs on top.

Just popped up to Go Outdoors and had a try out of a single campbed with various SIMs and I found them so uncomfortable! I'm a side sleeper and I could tell my arm would just go to sleep and I'd end up with an aching shoulder and a dead arm in the morning. Has anyone else found this?

Told my husband he's welcome to get his own single campbed and I'll share a new double air bed with our toddler, so at least we wont need his travel cot this year. Of course now we need to get a new air bed....

What do other side sleepers find most comfortable?

Hi I'm a side sleeper too and my concern was that the camp beds wouldn't be wide enough.

We went for the Kampa Slumber plus (type with wire legs) which is wider than usual, and topped it with a cheap "Hi Gear Camper" SIM from GO - also have a square sleeping bag for more space.

The combination works well for me, and I prefer to the airbed.

I am a side sleeper too and the campbed /sim combination works well for me ... i was always cold on airbeds and hated the movement of them when my husband turned over etc

I always sleep on my side (although not on my arm) and use a camp bed with a SIM on top. I find it very comfortable although due to it being narrow, when turning over to my other side, it is necessary to shuffle over rather than just rolling over.

Another vote for the Kampa slumber plus & SIM, we used the 5cm Aldi SIMS last year and they were quite a good fit width ways. I now have a Costco 7.5cm SIM but yet to try it on the camp bed, it's a bit wider than the Aldi SIM's and found it ok for a couple of nights on the ground.
The thing with SIMs is to adjust them for your comfort, leave them to self inflate and just close the valve will leave you with a solid mat to sleep on, let them self inflate then sit/lay on them while closing the valve will give you a softer mat.

I am a side sleeper and find the Towsure folding camp bed with my Raskelf Duvalay ensures I always have a good sleep.
