I was wondering if you could all help me out?

I'm looking at purchasing a thetford toilet but am uncertain as to which one to buy. I have looked at the Thetford website but am more confused than ever.

We are a family of 4 with two boys aged 3 and 5 and are looking for a toilet to be used for weekend camping/glamping that will also fit in the car. I am not looking at other types of 'loos' and was wondering what other more experienced campers use in this range.

I also understand that Aldi sell their own version of the thetford and was wondering what these were like.

We have the Aldi one and although it is in their home brand box it is a Thetford and is very good, we are on our second season with it now.

We use a thetford 165 PUMP action,not PRESSURIZED action, as ours started leaking after a while,no doubt to over pressurizing.The 165 is just the right height for us,but they do make a smaller one,better for kids etc.

You will be looking at the free standing Porta Pottis not the type that are permanently installed in caravans. The only differences in the different Porta Potti's is the sizes of the waste tanks. If you only want one for overnight use in a tent then the smallest size will be fine if you empty it on a daily basis.

Lidl used to sell a Thetford under their Rocktrail brand name but the one sold last year did not look like a Thetford, so I think they may have changed their supplier. I have a 365 in my caravan but as above they are all similar just different waste tank sizes and the smallest one does not have a waste level indicator.

You don't need a 'fuel gauge' you can see how full it is by pulling back the blade.

Yes the one we have is a Rocktrail so apologies it was from Lidl not Aldi. It has the large waste tank (20Ltr I think) with 15Ltr waste tank and indicator gauge but as Michell8 states handy but not a necessity. We don't have children so it is the perfect height for us (adults). Like most we only use it for number ones and as such it works well for us.

I forgot to ask but do aldi normally sell their toilets about Easter time. I keep looking but so far Ive only seen them sell the chemicals.
