I am experiencing a frustrating problem. At night we like to use a big light in and around the tent. However the one that we have gives off a yellow light (even with new batteries) - this makes things hard work! I remember 'back in the day' that we used to have a camping gas light - very bright. However I am not sure how safe they were/are for use inside a tent and how long they last.
What is the best light out there? It would be great if there is something that is rechargeable & electric.
Hi, posted the following on another recent thread about lighting, so repeated it here, hope it helps....
Can recommend the Ring Cyba lite Vega Lanterns - throws out some really good light, they're not too expensive, and from our experience seem to be economical on batteries ... in fact we bought 2, one for tent porch and one for inside:
Well reviewed on Amazon and seen lots of positive comments on ukcampsite.

I can't recommend any specific light as I have EHU and use electric lamps, however, if you are using bright lights outside the tent please be careful not to light up your neighbours pitch (or the entire campsite) as many people prefer campsite lighting subdued and may object.
Will you have EHU? If so why not just take a normal table lamp? We have two, small ones with plastic bases and it means the light in the tent is as good as when at home.
You can see one of them on the table in this photo:

I will have a EHU sometimes, but if I go for just a couple of nights we tend into to have one. I am in Belgium for the Grand Prix in August, we will have an EHU then so will use a table light. However, this summer will be long weekends so a battery one is preferable
Had a look at the ring one and it does seem to have good reviews. Also at £21 is a good price
The little lantern on the table on the left of my picture is one of four we have from Aldi, cost us about £2 for a set of two quite a few years ago and they have been great. Only small but give off a good light. We usually keep one in each of the bedrooms and one in the porch, handly to take to the loo on dark sites too. Sadly one of them has given up the ghost after we forgot and left last season's batteries in it, so we're down to three
