We have the green-shaded one! Which one did you order?
I'm delighted to inform you that you've made a great purchase - we love ours.
The big bulb surround part (i.e. the shade) is soft and floppy-ish rubber, which makes it resistant to damage while packed (I tend to remove the bulb while it's in transit). The flexible stem is thick and easy to position however you like, and it stays in place too. The clamp is similarly and surprisingly heavy duty too - it'll securely clamp on to pretty much anything, from a thin strip of velcro all the way up to something about 40mm thick.
The Outwell site describes the cable as "transparent", which is nonsense - it's just plain white. I've just measured mine and it's a useful 5mtr long, just as advertised (oo-er missus).
We usually use LED bulbs, bought from Lidl for 2 for £5, but you'll be lucky if there's any of those left. It takes the SES/small screw/E14 size of bulb. If you use an incandescent/halogen bulb, you might experience a greenish glow emanating from the shade, but I kinda liked that actually. I doubt if that happens with the grey-shaded model.
I see the RRP of this is £19.99. When you feel it in your hands you'll be pleasantly surprised, because it has the weight and build quality of something much more expensive. We're talking about getting another one for our bedroom pod, we love it so much. Perhaps we'll get the grey one next time.
I honestly can find no fault with it - 10/10.
