Like a lot of the members here I do not like the cold feeling you get from airbeds. I am thinking about buying the Outwell dreamcatcher 10cm sims for all the family but I am worried these will be just as cold. Would like to put these on campbeds but our sleeping pods slope and this makes them too high. Does anyone else use sims only and are they warm enough?
We use 10cm Dreamcatchers on hi Gear beds. Our bedpods slope, but our arrangement fits ok. The beds touch the bedpod fabric, but nothing pokes as far as the tent outer (are you certain you'd have a problem?).
I noticed a big improvement in warmth, over the previous arrangement of airbed-on-campbed, and I'm pretty sure this would still apply even if not using a campbed.
Have you room in the car for foam roll mats? Maybe use those beneath the Dreamcatchers?
A decent SIM is warm. There should be no need to insulate under it or over it though i guess most of us would cover it with something washable. I use mine on a camp bed due to dodgy knees but I'd much prefer to just have it on the floor. Means not having to carry yet another large solid item in the boot.
The Outwell ones will be more than up to the task I'm sure. :)

Lay on a SIM on the ground on my back packing trips
But I have a dislike for that wee strip of material called the groundsheet...Not only lying on it but moving around the tent(3 man Halo) on it...So I insulate rather heavily under it...Probably more than a true back packer would...
Waterproof tarp as a footprint(under the tent)Waterproof tarp over the inner g/sheet...foil survival sheet on top of that and another plastic sheet on top of that...Then a cheapo picnic rug...SIM and sleeping bag on top of all that...
Might seem a bit of overkill...But I tend/seem to move about a bit...And find myself sometimes off the SIM when I wake up...Spent too many cold nights in tents in my youth to risk it now...
Some young fellas I have met sleep on their SIMs directly on the G/sheet of the pod...And don't seem to feel the cold...Best of luck to them...I prefer my way especially through the winter months....

hi newbie.. I have a dreamcatcher 10cm sim.. I tend to use it on the floor only..but if I go away in a small tent I use a 4 leg campbed with a 7cm sim on top. if your sleeping pods slope it should work as the height off the floor is quite low
