Can I politely suggest you use this site's "Search" for "satellite" under the Camping & Caravanning Equipment section.

Many of us have addressed this subject on several occasions and I am sure there is advice there that can be applied to your situation.

First question, were do you intend to use your satellite system, UK or abroad, France, Spain, German or Italy etc?

Or maybe both UK and abroad, let us know.

OK, well that is good news, due to recent satellite changes the satellite signal over UK has improved, so a 35cm Dish will get you a picture, although if buying a cheap Dish I would go for 45cm as a minimum.

The Arcon Sweety is a very neat Dish, check out RoadPro or Ebay etc for that one, not cheap at £100+ though.

Another consideration would be a Flat Plate antenna like the Attisat FL500 or similiar.

A regular Sky Mini-Dish will work, but the Mesh construction, means it will soon pick up dings and under-perform.

Best buy would be a Solid Aluminium Dish from Gibertini or Triax, add to that a decent LNB from Invacom or Inverto and you will get perfect results every time.

Would suggest getting a your TV via the terrestrial route, much easier and simpler than satellite. Been at this camping malarkey for a long time and only once not been able to get a signal and that was in the days of analogue.

Have now had the sat with us on the past 3 trips and have had it set up much quicker than the aerial ever was.

Signal spot on and can always get our "local" news and weather from back home no matter where we are. Often foudn the aerial was unreliable and weak signal.

Plus I can watch the footy too with the satellite. lol

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

Feel nostalgic (probably the wrong word) for the trailer tent, but love the caravan. "Camping" all year round is fantastic.

Don't forget the "Multimo" Francais, another very good cassegrain type aluminium dish.

Also www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk a great web site for getting started.

Hi Vin Blanc.
I did think about the MultiMo but at 57cm would be somewhat overkill as the OP asked for UK use, and the MultiMo is claimed to perform as a 80cm Ofset Dish,

The Sweety is much more suited to UK use at just 43cm and said to perform as a 60cm Ofset Dish is in itself overkill since the recent satellite changes have increased the signal power, in so much as even a regular 35cm Ofset Dish is now fine for all of the UK.

So even the Sweety is not far of double the size required for UK use, maybe Arcon will introduce a 25cm Mini-Sweety Dish just for UK use.

Sorry to contradict Francais but the the Multimo is actually a 40cm dish which claims to have the performance of a 55cm.

Yep sorry about that Vin Blanc I stand corrected, it is the Arcon Multi that is the 57cm version of the 40cm Multimo, which appears to be also known as the Sweety some times branded Zehnder.

Also it seems that Arcon no longer produce the 57cm version, so I guess only the Sweety/Multimo 40cm will be the only available model going forward, which of course is fine for all UK use.

We bought a dish from Aldi for £39.99 and it gives good reception. one advantage of satellite is being able to watch your local regional BBC no matter where in the UK you are.

-------------
We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
