Just looking into buying an utility tent to use as a kitchen area/storage area, I've narrowed it down to 2 options, I think.
Could anyone who has experience of them please comment, I have read the reviews and past threads, but was hoping for some good/bad points for each so I can make a more informed purchase.
We just love our icle Cabanon PN20 it may be small but is perfectly formed, although the walls are proper Cotton Canvas and the roof is a thick laminated almost rubberised affair, the PN20 packs very small, and hardly any weight even with the steel poles.
If you look in my profile there is a picture of the smaller Outdoor revolution tent we have the bigger one as well and if buying again I would just buy the bigger one
We have had a Khyam Day Shelter 200 for a few seasons now, its easy to put up and has stood up to all weathers. There is only one opening door so you need to make sure you set it up where you want it to face but the door has a clear window with a "curtain" and its big enough to sit in there with a table and chairs if you ever wanted to do that.
I love a separate cooking tent, keeps all the mess and smells out of the main tent and is great for general storage.
Just in case you haven't considered it, I have the Quechua Base Seconds from Decathlon to use as a utility tent. It is a stand up height pop up, with nearly straight walls so ideal for setting a table or a stand up against. It also has two large mesh windows so great for ventilation.
The only thing is with any straight sided tent, have decent pegs just to be sure in strong winds. I keep four delta pegs for my utility tent after I had to chase it across a campsite once.
I'd probably go for the Kampa as it's much heavier which suggests heavier duty materials. Probably top of my list to now ☺ The Decathlon is too expensive and size not as practical IIRC.
The Kampa has windows which the other doesn't. Price similar.
Well I took the plunge today, and ordered the Kampa Utility tent today from S.K.Camping £99.99 including delivery, hopefully it will arrive before the end of the week, so I'll be sure to pitch it (probably inside the house judging by the weather), but as soon as I'll write a review, were going camping for a week later on in the summer so I'll be able to comment on its use properly then.
Very good choice. We went for the Kampa too and we are really happy with it.
Looked at both the Outdoor Revolution and Kampa side by side and the Kampa is far superior in terms of quality and stability. The upright poles are steel with fibreglass across the roof which makes it much sturdier than the OR which is all fibreglass.
We have had quite a lot of bad weather with wind and torrential rain and the Kampa has remained steady and dry throughout. Very pleased with it.
