Considering buying a trailer for next year as our car seems to struggle a bit with all our camping gear.
We can fit all our gear in to our top box, boot, and over one folded down rear seat, but even though we are within the recommended weight limit the car feels really low and struggles a little uphill. Maybe towing the weight may be a solution to take some of the strain?
So we're looking at the costs and benefits (we would incur the additional cost of having a towbar fitted too).
Would appreciate advice from trailer owners as to the practicalities of towing, what to look out for when shopping for a trailer - what's a decent budget, additional campsite charges etc... anything we should consider really.
Many thanks

Get a bigger one than you think you need. Buy a branded trailer as opposed to home made. Budget £300 for towbar (may be less) £200+ for a decent trailer.
Remember your speed limits reduce to 50 or 60 depending on class of road.
Yep go for as big as your budget allows, 5ft x 3ft7" with 42cm high sides and ABS Lid did it for us, got that back in 2009 new cost £800 at the time but it has been worth every penny.
I would be looking at 13" wheels and "A" Frame design these type of trailers are generally well built.
If the budget can stretch, the Anssems GT range of trailers are probably best suited to camping, but as with all good kit there is a premium to pay, especially for the larger models in the range.
you also need to consider where you are going to store it when not in use, I have a duuo trailer, they cost more but it means i can store it in the back garden. also have made a wooden frame to double the height of the trailer .
