I'm fed up with airbeds. Always leaking, squeaking, jostling each other around when moving... it's not conducive to a good night's sleep.
Having read this forum and others, I went to Go Outdoors to look into anglers' bedchairs. They had a single display model TF Gear Chill Out bed and several Wychwood Comforters reduced from £107 to £90 (Wychwood chair at go outdoors).
I'm a big bloke (6'5" and 16st) and both the wychwood and tf gear comfortably accommodated me. Fantastically supportive and comfortable and the ability to tilt the back up for reading at night will be a godsend.
The wychwood is more padded than the TF Gear one, with memory foam inserts and is really well constructed. I look forward to trying it out as a camp bed, but it also will serve duty as a bench seat, a sun lounger outside the tent and garden furniture once home.
I ended up getting the ex display TF Gear one (reduced to £60) and the Wychwwood one.
My wife looked sceptically at me when I unfolded the bed at home. Then she lay down on it, said, "wow! goodnight!" and promptly had a small snooze. If you're wondering about investing in one of these contraptions, I urge you to visit go outdoors or other stockists to investigate further, they really are that comfortable.
