Hi,
I am looking for a portable firepit to use with a dutch oven, to use on campsites which don't allow open fires. We only have the small oven. Does anybody have any ideas, please?
Hi Debb,
I don't know of anything specific as I use gas or EHU when we camp, but this website has some good information on dutch ovens and camping equipment needed for cooking in them. I hope it helps you a little bit...

I would check with individual sites first to see if they allow fire pits, as some sites do not allow them as they are still considered as "Open Fire"!
Good luck with your search.

I will check with the site but as I would be using charcoal and not wood, if the site states no fires, it would be no different to using a charcoal bbq.
You can use any bbq that is big enough to stand your pot on, if you are planning on using charcoal instead of an open fire then you dont need anything fancy, just something to stand it on that can take the heat and weight. You will often see on you tube americans cooking in dutch ovens on what is essentially a flat piece of steel on a stand.
Having used a dutch oven many times you will find it helpful if your bbq is bigger than your pot, that way you have room to put the lid down and room to start more coals ready to replace those that are dying.
