Shipping will be around 1/3rd or 1/4 the price of the tent. Basically double the price for Canadian dollars. There is no way I'm going to pay $2500-$3000+ Can for a Karsten tent or any tent for that matter. At those prices I can start looking at caravans (I believe that's what you guys call them) or tent trailers.
It sucks having to go this route but I'd rather have something I want for $700-$800 Can then pay $400 or so for a dome tent that I'm not going to be happy with and just be frustrated with it everytime I go out. I'm sure some of you think I'm a little crazy but...well...ok, maybe a little :)
I feel your pain. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and a Vango Isis 500. Only done a test pitch and hose soaking in the back yard but so far seems to be a fine tent. Pretty large by North American standards. Got mine from the UK but found one supplier in Canada. However, you may still get one cheaper from the UK if you find a seller that will discount the VAT and ship cheaply.

I too prefer the Euro design of separate sleeping berths, fly first pitching and windows and am disappointed that Coleman and Eureka don't offer their Euro styled tents in NA.
That's amazing Bob! Thanks for the link, I'll take a look and compare prices. Nice to see I'm not the only one.
Actually the prices aren't that bad. The only downside is that they don't sell the groundsheet but I can easily use a tarp instead. The Isis with a carpet is under $500 which is a great price IMO and shipping will be cheap. Much appreciated. Wish I could buy you beer.

Damn, looks like Runnel Equipment doesn't exist anymore. I tried emailing and when I didn't hear anything I called and the number is not in service. So back to the drawing board.
Bob, do you remember where you go it from? Would love to get it without VAT and cheap shipping.
Thanks.
PS: If anyone else knows of a good place for this Canadian to buy a tent that would be appreciated.

They appear to ship to Canada £55 for packages up to 15kg which is what Vango say the Isis weighs you might manage to convince them to send you one they also do a 500 package with carpet and footprint although you would have to negotiate shipping then I guess. Anyway it might be worth a look / email to them (we have always found them helpful all be it that is in person not long distance)
Hope you find what your looking for I can't believe NA have such an apparently limited range.
I spent about an hour emailing pretty much every company I could find in Google and they were one of them. I will keep them at the top of my list though as you have had a good experience with them.
