Hi does anyone know if these can be run 24/7? I'm looking for something to go in the drive away awning but only have a budget of around £100. Can anyone recommend me something please?

I have had the large Halfords one for almost ten years now and would not be without.
They have improved over the years but still happy to keep with what i have got.
Yes they can be run 24/7 without issue.
Questions are often asked about noise as there is a fan, unless ice builds up on the fan housing then it is only a quiet hum.
Just be mindful they don't have a thermostat and as such are not to be treated like a domestic fridge.
On average most will go to temps 16 degrees below ambient, so it may get to near freezing at night and above fridge temp during the hotter days.

Recommend certainly.

Thanks for the info what do you do on really hot days? I set up the drive away awning in the garden last week & it got mega hot in there (it was about 23 degrees outside) & I thought blimey how will our food stay chilled in here? The t5 wasn't much better because we've had it insulated now. Going out on our 1st trip away in them both at the end of the month. We have a caravan on a seasonal pitch in Devon but meeting up with friends in Cornwall. I think the plan is to sell the caravan next yr if the van conversion idea works.

When using mine during very hot days, I would try and keep it in the shade outside the tent as much as possible, and supplementary the cooling with ice blocks.

Not ideal, however, not much one can do when the cool box is only capable of cooling its content 16-18 deg C below the ambient temperature.

I shall be getting a better thermo-electric cool box that is capable of cooling 30 deg C below ambient temperature, in the form of a Waeco Tropicool, hopefully later this year in time for my last trip of the year in September in South Devon.

For my trip next week, I have decided to return to Fforest Fields where they provide fridge and freezer to campers free of charge, as I know my cool box is unlikely to cope with the hot weather (anything above 20 deg C is hot for me).

Hi. Until recently, we had an Outwell and the instructions specifically stated that it should be 'rested' for one hour every 2 days. We now have a Waeco and the instructions make no mention of any time limits.
