Hi All,
Does anyone have an opinion on fridges for camping? I don't want or need a fancy three way fridge as we are quite happy to only have electric pitches.
I am wondering if anyone uses an ordinary, small fridge. I know they say you shouldn't move them, but I tend to think that's a bit of an old wives tale.
Any advice, experiences welcome.
Cheers
Nick
Ideally, you should let the gas settle before using it.
Let it stand for about 30-60 min.
Think! get one delivered for an electrical store and they
advise to let it stand for an hour before switching it on.
The back may get warm so make sure there is ample air flow.
You should be fine
The "table tops" are compressor fridges so perform exactly as your normal fridge does at home. 3 way fridges are absorbtion type and only cool to 25 to 30 degres below ambient temperature at best running on gas, less on mains or 12 volt

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Do you need a fridge for camping? It was on our list for the campervan, but realized that by the time you add all that extra expense, they are generally not that big or useful..like for bottles of wine!
Meat will only stay fresh for a couple of days in the fridge. So we plan to buy a Colemans Steel Belted Cooler which should do the same job for a fraction of the price.
As for movement, those Waeco CR50 fridges appear to be marketed for campers and boats.
Having camped with a fridge (borrowed) and a cool box ( that didn't really cool), I think a fridge is invaluable.
I have managed to buy a 47 litre fridge for £35.00 with 3 month guarantee from an eBay shop based in Wolverhampton. 47 litres is a decent size, plenty of room for milk, wine, cheese, etc. The fridge itself is considerably smaller than the camping fridges I have seen for £180.00. As most sites now have hook ups, I don't need battery or gas options. I'm really pleased with my purchase and can't wait for the summer hols.
A dometic rc2200 3 way fridge will cool down to 33 below ambient.
Ours works a treat on gas and we turn it off at night in this country or it can freeze the contents.
