Okay, here's my thoughts (on that link/video above).
The peggy peg seems to me to be a nail, with a hefty thread... A screw, yer might say!
Let's just say, for arguments sake (I have no idea on the actual details) that the shaft is 20mm diameter (at it's thickest, I can see it's tapered) and the thread depth is a further 3mm. As that goes all the way around, of course, let's call the outside diameter then, 26mm.
Knock that in with a hammer, and we do of course, now have a bored hole at 26mm dia... and yet, in excess of 80% of the peg is only 20mm!!
For the effect of that, just take a look at how much that baby moves on the video, with just a tug my hand, from a foot or so away...before the guy realises, and just pretends to pull it!! (1min 26secs)
When you have a hoolie trying to drag your 6 man tent, or £2k awning away, that's a whole lot more force than what this chap did.
Not the best promo vid I've ever seen... and it's put me off... at least until I see something (with my own eyes) that convinces me I'm barking up the wrong tree!!
