Hi All,
Im looking for advice on which coolbox to buy. We are new to camping, and the sheer volume of information about all the equipment we need is incredible! Out latest quandry is which coolbox to buy.
We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids under 7.
Having read quite a few posts on the topic, I think I would prefer a coolbox which can take ice-bags. I have read that with some you put the ice in BEFORE you go and it keeps the box cool for a week.....my mind boggles!
Anyway, I'd like to pay less than £70, and have a coolbox which holds 50L ish. I suppose my basic question is, which coolbox that holds 50L, and costs less than £70 is going to keep things cold for the longest?
I meant to add I also own a Coleman 36QT Cooler which performs better as the walls are much thicker but the downside is that the inside is much smaller. Although it would probably be big enough for 4 for a weekend away.
We choose an igloo maxcold over the coleman extreme as the exterior is smaller than that of the equivalent size coleman extreme but both are rated the same.
So similar exterior size to the one above but has a 60qt capacity (57L)here.
We have the Coleman extreme and really like it. Though the 2 year old saw me going in and getting food out and may have left it a bit open! So my ice melted in a day.
Freeze 2nd night dinner, large bottle of water, orange juice anything which you can use later in the week or weekend but does not take up too much of your space.
Cooling the cool box before you go is like warming your Thermos flask with boiling water before putting in coffee/ tea/ boiling water.
