I have a Suter twin ring/grill gas stove. The left ring won't stay lit. No matter how long I hold it in after lighting the ring, as soon as I let out the control nob it goes out straight away. Is there a quick fix?
I took mine apart (different cooker, in a caravan) and stripped it down to the parts. One needed a new ring (a spacer??) fitting. I gave all the parts a good soak to get off the grease.
There's a little sensor which tells the cooker that the gas is lit, I think its a heat sensor. Mine look like little pins at the side of the rings. Try cleaning it gently with a bit of washing up liquid or degreaser on a piece of kitchen towel, might be all that's wrong. If that doesn't work, try a tiny piece of fine grade sandpaper and go very gently.
sounds like the thermocouple has gone. this has to get up to temp to allow the gas to flow when you release the knob.
had one go on our cooker....its a £6 part to replace, but half the top of the cooker needs to come off...its basically a little spike like thing with a short wire on it!
try as jax says first and see if that solves it...else you need to find the part...and really if you are not competent then you need to have a gas fitter do it that is qualified for off-grid gas.
