I feel the need to tell people about the fantastic service I had today, long story short I had to return my nimbus 8 (great tent) in return I walked away with a vango Icarus 800, footprint and carpet. The best customer service I've ever received.
I would have to agree about the in store customer service walked out with a big smile last time and not just become of the price match plus 10% saving.
I suppose individual branches differ our nearest one is the worst ive come across so never use it
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Yep, I've experienced both bad and good at GO. I had some walking boots fail at the toe when the sole came away (not what you want when you pay for the security of a well made boot to keep your tootsies safe up a mountain).
The first store assistant blamed me, saying that they can't verify that they hadn't been misused and have been used past the point of their normal usage - as in I'd used them inappropriately. Wasn't budging an adamant that no refund or exchange was happening.
So, I went to a second assistant, who didn't blink and exchanged them straight away with an apology and discussion about which brands he gets the highest number of returns from. Solomon, although not so popular have the fewest returns proportionally apparently.
Although not recent I must say we have had excellent service from our local store in Stockton-on-Tees.
Prior to our last 6 month trip to southern Africa we purchased an Outwell Trout Lake tent from them along with the extension.During our trip one or two little niggles occurred which we passed to the store via our daughter at home who was told to remind us to take the tent back in when we returned. This we did and the tent was duly erected in the show room (complete with the ever present sand)and examined. As a result we were presented with a credit note for 10% off our next purchase. We thought this was 10% of what that purchase cost but no it was 10% of what the tent and extension cost.
During the 6 months that tent was used every day in temps of 30 - 40 degrees probably equating to more than 2 years usage by a normal tenting family.
