Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing a Tristar 45 3-Way Fridge (from GO Outdoors) for family camping trips.
As I understand it I really need to be running it on Gas whilst staying on sites without electric hook ups.
My question is:
Where do people usually put it?
I am not sure how well ventilated our porch area is (Outwell Hartford XLP) and I wasn't sure about running it outside either?
Obviously I am taking no chances with running a gas appliance where my family and I sleep.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Also are there any other products I should be considering?

Thanks

Steve

To be fair in this modern age, I would not bother with a 3 way fridge, and if you go to Southern Europe during the summer most seem to struggle.

We have just got back from 3 weeks in the South of France, which was a good test for our new fridge.

We bought the fridge from Obelink in Holland February 2013 a Mobicool C40 at £139 inc delivery to UK it has been one of my best camping purchases.

Temps were hitting +40DegC in the tent, which had no effect on the C40 whatsoever.

Although the C40 is mains only it can be run of a 12v inverter if needed.

The C40 is a proper compressor fridge, so works just the same way as a domestic fridge.

I have just been looking for these and ended up with the dometic (used to be Electrolux) one. The Tristar didn't have very good reviews when I looked around.

We use it for going to shows where you are basically in a field, no electric and have a baby so it had to be a 3 way.

We used it a week ago, the temps were up to 25 and food was still kept cool. The tip the guy in the camping shop gave me was to make sure it was full because it's harder for it to cool the air than stuff already cool. I was super pleased with it anyway.

If you are worried about gasping yourself in the tent you could turn it off at night when it is cooler?

We have had an Electrolux 3 way fridge for 25 years and always used it in an awning with out a zipped in ground sheet. You shouldnt have any problems running it on gas in a ventilated awning. In fact in my opinion I think they run better on gas.
