Hi I am thinking of buying the below for touring in France (south Brittany) - what do you think or can you suggest anything else?
ROSS hd portable satellite kit
Yep, 1m Dish will do for anywhere in France, even down on the Med.
Anywhere North of Lyon will be fine with 85cm Dish.
And the far North of France say Normandy etc even a 45 cm Sky mini-dish will suffice.
We use a Humax Foxsat Freesat PVR satellite receiver, handy for time shifting the program's that you wan't to watch, or for viewing previously recorded stuff, when you can't get clear line of sight to the satellite, often caused by campsite tree shade.
I have a Ross kit with 35cm dish which worked OK in Saumur, Loire Valley, this July (for Freesat). Therefore I would expect it to work in southern Brittany as long as the view isn't blocked by trees. However, you would be at a disadvantage with a 30cm dish. If you are buying a dish specifically for northern France I would suggest 45cm or bigger.
For UK use and Northern France, I would be using a Flat Plate Antenna like the Attisat FL500, there are various other makes of a similar design on the market, or even a Prime Focus Antenna such as the Arcon (Zehnda) Multi 57cm works like 80cm or Arcon Sweety 43cm works like 60cm, the Arcon is of the Cassegrain design, which gathers more signal than a regular satellite dish of the same size.
The above type of antenna, are more suited to camping duties, and are easier to align, as they look directly at the satellite unlike a regular Offset dish.

I think you are confusing the names Francais.
“Arcon” produced the Arcon Multi 57cm cassegrain dish but it is no longer in production!
Zehnder produced the “Multimo” cassegrain dish but the factory burned down recently so that is probably the end of Multimo.

Thanks for that, but did Arcon not produce both the 57cm and the 43cm Cassegrain design antenna, whilst Zehnder just branded it.
Have you been using your 57cm Multi down in the South of France since the satellite changes back in February this year, and what have your results been like.
I wish someone would manufacture an 80cm Cassegrain antenna, as I now have to take a 1m Gibertini Dish for use in Frejus, which thankfully worked fine for all the Freesat channels this last fortnight.
The problem I guess is that the market for 80cm Cassegrain dish is quite small, as most of Europe folk can get there satellite TV with just a 60cm dish almost anywere they go in Europe.
So I would say that there is still a big market for the Arcon (Zehnder) Sweety at just 43cm, both for use for Freesat in the UK and for other folk in Europe who want there French/German/Dutch/Spanish etc satellite TV.
I may be wrong, but to my knowledge, the Multimo dish was never produced by Arcon.
My understanding is that it was produced by Zehnder, perhaps RoadPro would know the answer as they used to sell both the Zehnder Multimo and the Arcon Multi.
Re France; Unfortunately, all my trips this year have been to Bournemouth hospital, Christchurch hospital and Guys hospital in London.
Caravan is feeling very neglected. Hopefully we may manage to get somewhere in the UK early autumn if my health continues to improve.

Hi Vin Blanc.
Sorry to read that you have not been well, and I wish you all the luck in the world, for you to get well enough to get out with the van again.
