The zip on my wifes Gelert sleeping bag has Bust Lower zipper now missing altogether and the 2 sides there is no now way to zip them up. And to rub salt into the wounds the zip on the tent has gone now (quatchua pop up). The front door Unzips only from the top, causing the door to fall in which is a pain when wet unless you remember to push it out. The top zipper has also detached from the one side of the zip.
anyone know if these are realistically fixable or just replace (Tight budget here)

Thanks great ideas. Love the velcro idea its a 4 season bag (she feels the cold) so not cheap to replace and its only used by her twice a year for a few days at a time.

It really depends on how the zips have broken as to whether or not they can be repaired. If the zip coils have become damaged then they will not interlock and the zip has had it. However, it is often the case that the hasp has pulled off on one side. I had this problem on my tent door when I bought it as an ex display model.
I tried to obtain a replacement hasp but because zips come in so many different sizes which are difficult to measure accurately it was not possible to obtain a hasp which was guaranteed to fit.
Eventually I decided to cut across the zip right at the bottom on the side which had come off thus exposing the end of the zip coil. The hasp can then be slid back on. I then taped across the bottom of the zip coil to prevent the hasp from coming off again.
When I checked the other tent door zips it looked as if they too could easily just pull off, so I put a small bit of tape on the bottom of all of them to prevent the hasps from pulling off the bottom when the zip is closed.
Not sure if that is described very well but the best I can do - lol.
This Video shows what I mean. The girl in the video sews the bottom of the zip together...I just stuck tape on the cut side bearing in mind a tent zip has to open at the bottom.
I had the Zip on my Porch door burst open and was stuck, thankfully it broke on the last night so the handy roll of Gaffa tape made do for the night! But now home I was not sure on how to repair!!!
Now I do, Got to love these forum posts so many great tips and help!!!
