I have an Outwell Nevada tent which I am very happy with.

I am just preparing for a 2 week camping trip in the North of France later this month and was thinking it would be nice to be prepared and have some sort of cover to allow me to cook if it is raining. Yes I know this is rather pessimistic!

I have a basic Campingaz Camp Bistro stove. For safety reasons I would not consider using this inside the tent.

So I was wondering what accessories were available to allow me to cook outside if it is raining. Nothing worse than not being able to have that first coffee in the morning.

The only thing that sprung to mind was a gazebo but that seems overkill.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

You need a tarp and a windbreak, this will give you a flexible rain proof shelter. Have a search for the tarp threads on here or google tarp set ups and you will get some ideas.

We use a windbreak with canopy - one of these - next to the tent. A tarp would give you more shelter though.

We have another windbreak without the canopy we use to pen off a dining area.

With everything in green it does make our pitch look like a military compound though! Our next tent will have a built in canopy for cooking under and we'll do away with the windbreaks.

I have just ordered this for the same reason

http://www.campingandleisure.co.uk/acatalog/sunncamp-windjammer-plus-2012.html

and on sale at £30.00 thought it was fairly reasonable there is another for £39.99 also.

Thanks a lot for the super replies. The canopy with roof looks like a great solution and not too expensive. Brilliant!!

Another option is to get a utility tent. There is one made by Outdoor Revolution, you could even use a changing tent which is smaller but will hold a stove and table. I have a Decathlon Base Seconds as a Utility tent which is a stand up height pop up tent.

Thanks Campernic

I have gone for the canopy with roof. Hopefully I won't need it but good to be prepared. The utility tent does look like a great option too though people may think it is a portaloo and who know what could happen:)

I think it all depends on how much room you want to create..the above windbreak with canopy will give a certain amount of protection either from rain /wind or sun..but a tarp with or without a windbreak will cover more area..obviously depending on what size you have. The link above is good reading & may give you some other ideas.

Whatever you decide have a great time in France, we were there this time last year & had a fantastic time.
