Hello folks - can anyone recommend a good table with adjustable legs, or at least one which is a little lower than the standard 70cm?

We have a lovely table that my parents picked up in the US about 10 years ago, which works a bit like the "Folding Camping Table" currently in the Argos catalogue - the legs kind of concertina out and the slatted 70x70cm table top folds out and clips on. The whole thing folds up into a bag about the same size as our camping chair bags. Its only flaw is that it's just a tiny bit too high to eat at comfortably.

I'm only 5' tall, and if the seat of my chair were any higher, my feet would dangle so that's not an option - and anyway I've also looked for higher (comfortable) chairs without success. (We also have a SIG so can't stand the table legs in holes, before anyone suggests it! )

We don't mind whether the top is metal or wood, slatted or smooth but we don't really want cup holders in the table surface. I'd prefer something that packs up 'long and thin' like the chairs rather than folding flat and wide, because it'll fit better in my car boot. I'd slightly prefer adjustable legs since that'd enable us to level it on uneven ground too, but failing that, I'd be happy with something closer to 65cm high. Any ideas?

Yep, we have the Lafuma California Table which we use mostly outside, and the Lafuma Louisiana Table which has a smaller top, so was relegated and then converted to a "Camping Vanity Unit", check out my post to get a view how the legs on the Lafuma Table's can be adjusted for both level and height.

Pull off the rubber feet on the table. Get yourself a good hacksaw, and cut the legs to your desired height. Then pop the rubber feet back on. We have the same problem with ours and was thinking about doing this. Geoff

I second the Lafuma tables they are the dogs ******** when it comes to tables superbly adjustable and rock solid and with care will last a lifetime.

Nice idea, but sadly ours isn't *exactly* the same design as the Argos one, and the diagonal cross-braces run the whole length of the legs (floor to table-top) so chopping bits off the bottom isn't going to work! Good point that we could do that with the Argos one, though.

The legs on the Lafuma ones look perfect. I can't find a picture of it packed up, though. Does the top roll/fold up, or is it a 'travel flat' arrangement?

They fold flat! And are so adjustable that you could stand one or two feet on the kerb and still have a level table, about eight inches of travel in each leg

Thanks! May require a bit of re-jigging in the boot, then, but they look like they may well do the trick.
