I want to get a portable DVD player. Do you get what you pay for as regards quality or are they all much of a muchness. Are you paying extra for a NAME brand? Got to be the 7 or 8 inch jobbie though. Or is it better to buy a combi TV / DVD player for about half the price, sarcraficing weight but the option of TV rather than watching the same disc 42 times.

Yeah, look at www.geocaching.com and buy yourself a handheld GPS system for £100.

It's a great way to entertain the children and discover places around teh country that Tourist Information doesn't reach.

Tee-pee, my Garmin Etrex was cheaper than £90 on the www. Cant find that offer now but its worth shopping around as the diffrence is about £40 at some places!!!!!!! Isnt that part of the hunt? ;)

The basic Etrex is more than you need to start caching. Go on, do it!

Portable DVD are great.  Although I only allow the kids to watch when to wet/late to play outside they are a godsend.  I just pack a few of thier favourite disc and one or two of my own.   Means you can get away from the telly for a few days - wonderful - but have the fall back of being able to watch a film if needed (like is a touch on the wet side out).
