On our penultimate night my wife's Coleman Aerobed decided to spring a leak.......it seems to have cracked around one of the heat welded sections for the internal columns.

This is on the flocked side just to make it even more awkward!!!!

I tried using the supplied repair patch which did nothing at all........so doing the chivalrous thing, I had to sleep on the floor!!!

This was an expensive purchase so don't really want to throw it away......

Does anybody have any good experiences of repairing these????

I have abandoned airbeds as every single one, even an expensive one I bought to combat this very problem, has failed on me. I use a camp bed now with a self inflating mat on top.

I don't think it will be possible to repair it. Either replace with a different set up or a cheap airbed and treat it like a disposable item, replacing every season with a new cheapie airbed. Tescos had them for £8 a while back.

I'm with Campernic on this one this season got Outwell double camp bed, the amount of money I've spent on airbeds could of bought 3 double camp beds. Bed choice I ever made no more ending up on the floor and loads more cosier.

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.........
The trouble is, my wife loves how comfortable this is so I'm not sure I can persuade her with anything else!!!

All plastic airbeds will crack and leak after a while, only the old fashioned rubberised cotton airbeds will give you years of service without leaking (unless you blow them up too hard).

Be a man! Just do it! Camp bed, with a 5cm SIM (10cm is even better, but 5cm is more than adequate).
SIM's are comfier (Don't be tempted to over inflate... adjust the inflation to suit the user's own comfort level), drier (less prone to condensation) and warmer (they have foam inside, so insulated). Even better when laid on a camp bed (which "gives" a little), as opposed to the hard floor (Although they are again more than adequate on the floor, as this is what they are designed for).

...And if she's anywhere near (or beyond) the mid point of her life, she'll even be grateful for you saving her knees, as she would then have a decent bed height!!

...Oh... and then there's the added bonus of the storage room under the bed!

Trust us on this... SHE WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!!

Be brave, and stay strong, my friend!

Hi All,

I'm not the problem, it's the wife!!!

I generally use an Alpkit SIM with no problem but the other half got a Coleman Aerobed 2 years ago (2 years and 1 month and a 2 year guarantee). I can't remember the model type but it's like being on a normal mattress!!!!

Somehow I don't think I can convince her a camp bed would be a good alternative, and I'm not sure what damage the legs would do to the SIG either!!!!

I've got some Tear Aid tape so I think I'll give that a try.....wish me luck!!!
