Hello all,
My Question is,
Most of our Equipment will be going in a trailer i think the size is 5 foot x 4 foot, most sites ask what sort of tent your going to pitch, do i put Trailer tent or just Tent and the size it is ?
Thanks... More info below
My name is Andrew im new to camping & i would like some advice hope this is the correct forum.
Ive just got an outwell Arkansas 5 tent we are a young family of 2 adults 2 children 3 and 10 year olds with a fairly small estate car.
We use a trailer, have done for the last 2/3 years now, with a tent, never been questioned or asked about a trailer, as long as it all fits on your pitch I'm sure there will be no problems. If in dout ask or tell the, when booking.
No. A Trailer tent is something completely different. You simply have a tent... you just happen to transport it in a trailer.
If they ask, you just mention Tent, and the size of it. Whether you arrive with the tent (and/or equipment) in the boot, a trailer, roof box, or God forbid, on your back () will cause no concern whatsoever.*
*Unless it's one of the few sites that don't allow vehicles on the pitch/camp site, and you have to drag it all from their car park!
For your reference, a Trailer Tent is a tent AFFIXED to the trailer...
Some sites charge per person/item, and I would mention my trailer and dog when I enquire about availability and single person discount with a prospective site.

As has been mentioned two separate items a trailer and trailer tent...
When I had a trailer tent...I always mentioned that when booking....Never ever mentioned my trailer(for transporting gear only) when booking a site and never had any issues with it when I turned up...
Only real issue I can see with a trailer...Is on a site with designated pitch sizes...Where everything(Tent/Car/trailer) has to fit in the designated area...
If worried...I would mention the trailer when booking...Stressing that it is just a trailer...and find out what the site allows....

If you intend to park your car at the side of the tent, there will probably be room for the trailer behind the car. I wouldn't worry too much about where the trailer goes, if in doubt look at other campers and see where they parked theirs in relation to their tent.
As a fairly new trailer-er myself - take serious heed of the comments about the difficulties of reversing a trailer. Always park where the caravans/coaches park in services so that you can just drive forward. If your trailer is second hand check the age of the tyres - if more than 6 or 7 years old its prudent to get them replaced.
