Hi All

My DH and I have just purchased our first caravan, an Elddis Firestorm 500/5 (2000). We had a Trigano trailer tent but after suffering serious caravan envy on our last trip out we finally caved and bought one.

Having a trailer tent we're familiar with the pain of erecting a traditional pole awning so we are looking to buy a Sunncamp ultima Air 280 plus inflatable awning.

I've been looking round to find the height specs for our van online(we were at the dealers today and measured the awning track to see if we could fit the 280 or 390 awning but stupidly forgot to measure the height! D'oh!).

The awning guidelines say that they fit vans between 235-250cm in height.

Most of the specs I've found for the Firestorm list the height at around 258cm. Will this include the height of the TV aerial etc (in which as the awning will likely fit) or will that be the true height of the van itself (in which case we're back to the metaphorical awning drawing board)?

If anyone can shed any light it would be much appreciated.

thanks

Marie

The caravan spec for the height does allow for roof mounted protrusion, i.e., TV aerial, chimney flue etc.

The great majority of awnings that quote a range of fixing heights as you've found, will fit pretty much any van.

Thanks Paul. That's what I was hoping. I'll crack on and order my awning.

cheers
