I've just picked up a second hand Beauclaire (I'm pretty sure it's the normal/original size rather than the light) but it didn't come with a regulator or hose. I'm not really sure which I need, having never used anything Calor gas powered before. Can anyone tell me what I need in terms of a regulator and hose?

I have an "original" which I have used with butane, propane and camping gaz. It's the choice of gas bottle and type that determines which regulator you need. A regulator to fit a907 size camping gaz bottle is about a fiver, other types much the same. So it really does depend on which gas bottle you phantom use!

I was looking at something like a 3.9kg (or possibly 6kg) propane bottle.

So something like this Calor regulator with some 8mm hose and jubilee clips should do the trick then?

From some reading up propane seems to be the way to go for UK camping due to it's continued performance below 10 degrees C. Is that about the consensus?

Thats the correct regulator for propane.

We have camped in London in February with butane and didnt have a problem.

I think the choice was more important when the bottle was stored in an outside locker or outside the van in the open.

But if your going to camp when its colder than you can choose propane just in case.
